ABOUT
Founded by film critic and curator Jordan Cronk, Acropolis Cinema is a nonprofit screening series bringing classic and contemporary experimental, international, and undistributed films to screens across Los Angeles. Since launching in January 2016, Acropolis has hosted the local premieres of films by numerous internationally renowned directors, including Hong Sangsoo, Tsai Ming-liang, Bertrand Bonello, Jean-Luc Godard, Radu Jude, Alexander Sokurov, Cristi Puiu, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, and João Pedro Rodrigues, as well as in-person events with Pedro Costa, Wang Bing, James Benning, Hirokazu Koreeda, Ken Jacobs, Robert Beavers, and Helena Wittmann, among others. Our festival, Locarno in Los Angeles, ran annually from 2017 to 2022. In addition to Locarno, our past and present collaborators include Film at Lincoln Center, the New York Film Festival, LACMA, Laemmle Theatres, Los Angeles Filmforum, REDCAT, and the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
